U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has continued its enforcement actions against individuals convicted of serious crimes, including sexual offenses and domestic abuse, despite the ongoing government shutdown. According to ICE, officers have been active across several cities in recent days.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated, “Every day—even when the government is shut down—our brave ICE law enforcement officers are risking their lives to arrest the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens including pedophiles, rapists, and domestic abusers. Nothing will deter us from our mission to make America safe again. While the Democrats play politics, the deportation flights will continue.”

Among those arrested were Hector Patricio Quinchi-Saldana, a 42-year-old Ecuadorian national with a rape conviction in Queens, New York; Yoni Garado-Cobix, a 42-year-old Mexican national convicted of assault involving family or household members in Hidalgo County, Texas; Zeisly Jose Samaniego-Landaeta, a 37-year-old Venezuelan national with convictions for aggravated assault in Salt Lake City, Utah; Mouncef Lahoura, a 25-year-old Moroccan national convicted of forcible oral copulation in Susanville, California; and Luis Robles-Minjares, a 45-year-old Mexican national convicted of sexually assaulting a child under ten years old in Santa Clara County, California.

ICE emphasized that these operations are ongoing and that officers remain committed to removing individuals they identify as threats to public safety from communities nationwide.
