U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested Radule Bojovic, a Montenegrin national who was living in the United States without legal status and working as a sworn police officer for the Hanover Park Police Department in Illinois. The arrest was part of Operation Midway Blitz, an enforcement initiative launched by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

According to records from the Hanover Park Police Department, Bojovic was approved by the Pension Fund Board of Trustees in January 2025 and became eligible for a starting salary of $78,955.70. His total earnings for 2025 reportedly amounted to $205,707, which included $9,276 allocated for FICA/Medicare taxes.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin commented on the situation: “Governor J.B. Pritzker doesn’t just allow violent illegal aliens to terrorize Illinois’s communities, he allows illegal aliens to work as sworn police officers. Radule Bojovic violated our nation’s laws and was living ILLEGALLY in the United States for 10 years—what kind of police department gives criminal illegal aliens badges and guns? It's a felony for aliens to even possess a firearm. A so-called law enforcement officer who is actively breaking the law,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Under President Trump and Secretary Noem ICE is restoring law and order. Criminal illegal aliens have NO PLACE in our communities, especially on our police forces.”

Bojovic had entered the U.S. on a B2 tourist visa, which required him to leave by March 31, 2015. He remained in the country unlawfully for over ten years.

Operation Midway Blitz began on September 8 as an effort by DHS to target criminal non-citizens in Illinois, particularly those seeking protection under sanctuary policies enacted by Governor J.B. Pritzker. The operation was named in honor of Katie Abraham, who died in a drunk driving incident involving an undocumented immigrant.
