Foodynamics has announced a correction to its previous recall notice, expanding the list of affected products to include the What’s In the Bowl brand and removing Raw Dog Barkery Sliced Chicken Heart from the recall. The company is recalling certain lots of freeze-dried pet treats under the Raw Dog Barkery, BellePepper Cats, Kanu Pets, and What’s In the Bowl brands due to potential Salmonella contamination.
“This is a correction to the company’s press release, previously issued on October 9, 2025. An additional brand, What’s In the Bowl, has been added, and the Raw Dog Barkery Sliced Chicken Heart product has been removed.”
The recalled products were distributed from Wisconsin by UPS to retailers in Wisconsin, New York, and Florida. A total of eight packages reached consumers in these areas. Foodynamics clarified that some packages previously identified as Raw Dog Barkery were actually sold under What’s In the Bowl. Additionally, a lot number included in an earlier release was not sent to consumers and should have been omitted.
No illnesses have been reported so far in pets or humans who may have handled or consumed these products. Foodynamics has traced all distributed items and contacted direct customers about the recall.
Salmonella can cause illness in both animals consuming contaminated treats and humans handling them if proper hygiene practices are not followed. Symptoms in people can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), abdominal cramping, and fever. Rare complications may also occur. Pets with Salmonella infection may show signs such as lethargy, diarrhea (possibly bloody), fever, vomiting, reduced appetite or abdominal pain.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration detected Salmonella during routine sampling of these products. Production and distribution of the affected items have stopped while Foodynamics works with federal officials to investigate further causes.
Foodynamics instructed retailers to quarantine recalled stock for refunds and urged consumers not to feed these treats to pets or other animals. Consumers should return recalled products for a full refund and ensure safe disposal so they are out of reach of children or wildlife. All surfaces and utensils that came into contact with these products should be washed thoroughly.
