Senior Official Jeremy Lewin, who oversees foreign assistance, humanitarian affairs, and religious freedom, participated in the G7 Development Minister’s Meeting in Washington. The meeting focused on strategies to mobilize private industry and capital to support global economic growth, reform multilateral institutions, and promote greater burden sharing in addressing security and humanitarian issues.
During the discussions, Lewin highlighted the reforms implemented under President Trump and Secretary Rubio, which aimed to improve U.S. foreign assistance programs. He encouraged partner governments to adopt development approaches that avoid reliance on non-governmental organizations, stimulate private investment, and advance strategic objectives. Lewin also emphasized the importance of providing alternatives to debt-based development models and ensuring stable access to essential supply chains and minerals.
Lewin stated, "The United States views the G7 as an important forum for continued cooperation on key humanitarian, development, and security challenges."
