AFPI warns of supply chain risks amid government shutdown

The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) has expressed concerns over the impact of the ongoing government shutdown on U.S. supply chains. Jill Homan, Deputy Director of Trade & Economy Policy and Campaign Director at AFPI, said that the shutdown is affecting essential operations such as ports, freight inspections, and logistics. This disruption is causing delays for businesses awaiting shipments, which affects various sectors including manufacturing and retail.

Homan highlighted that federal workers are currently working without pay, exacerbating the situation. She attributed part of the problem to what she described as "radicals in Congress" who are demanding taxpayer-funded healthcare for undocumented immigrants as a condition for reopening the government.

According to Homan, "American businesses and workers shouldn’t be held hostage to partisan agendas or benefits for those who broke our laws." She urged Congress to resume government operations promptly to safeguard critical supply chains and prioritize American interests.
