Senate Agriculture Committee advances bills for improved management of forest service lands

The U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry has approved a series of bills aimed at improving the management and public use of U.S. Forest Service lands. The committee, led by Chairman John Boozman (R-AR), advanced legislation that affects nine states.

“I’m proud to support commonsense solutions to ensure the U.S. Forest Service lands are managed efficiently, create recreation opportunities and support local communities. These bills impact nine states, and I’m pleased to work with the Senators and House members on both sides of the aisle who led this legislation,” Boozman said.

The approved bills include measures such as the Chester County Reversionary and Mineral Interest Release Act; Virginia Wilderness Additions Act; an amended bill to convey certain National Forest System lands in Franklin County, Mississippi; Lake Winnibigoshish Land Exchange Act; a release of interest in Black River State Forest in Millston, Wisconsin; an amended Shawnee National Forest Conservation Act; Shenandoah Mountain Act; Flatside Wilderness Additions Act; a bill to modify the boundaries of the Talladega National Forest; Benton MacKaye National Scenic Trail Feasibility Study Act; Stratton Ridge Air Force Memorial; a bill to amend the Thye-Blatnik Act; and a measure to convey a parcel of property of the Forest Service to Perry County, Arkansas.

These legislative actions aim to support efficient land management practices while enhancing recreational opportunities for the public and benefiting local communities.
