ICE arrests nine individuals with criminal records during Canal Street operation

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out a targeted enforcement operation on Canal Street in New York City, resulting in the arrest of nine individuals identified as illegal aliens with criminal histories. The operation, which took place on October 21, 2025, focused on addressing criminal activity related to the sale of counterfeit goods.

According to ICE, the enforcement action was intelligence-driven and faced resistance from groups described as violent rioters. Four individuals were arrested for assaulting law enforcement officers, and one person was arrested for obstruction during the operation.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated, “ICE conducted a targeted, intelligence-driven enforcement operation on Canal Street in New York City, focused on criminal activity relating to selling counterfeit goods yesterday. ICE arrested nine illegal aliens with criminal histories including robbery, burglary domestic violence, assaulting law enforcement, counterfeiting, drug trafficking, drug possession, and forgery. The majority of those arrested were released into the country by the Biden administration. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S.”

The nine individuals arrested include:

- Mamadou Ndoye from Mali, who was issued a final order of removal by an immigration judge in 2008 and has prior arrests for offenses such as assault, counterfeiting, narcotics sales, and resisting arrest.

- Muhammad Ndiaye from Senegal, who entered the U.S. on a B2 tourist visa and has previous arrests for domestic violence, robbery, burglary, forgery, counterfeiting, and other charges.

- Aboubakar Diakite, with prior arrests for counterfeiting.

- Idy Sarr from Senegal, who received a final order of removal in 2010 and has been previously arrested for offenses including obstruction and possession of forged instruments.

- Sergigne Diop from Senegal, who entered the U.S. at the southwest border in April 2024 and was released into the country.

- Modou Mboup from Senegal, who previously assaulted Mexican law enforcement and entered the U.S. in September 2023 before being released.

- Alioune Sy from Senegal, who entered on a tourist visa in May 2023 but did not depart after its expiration.

- Bokar Soko from Mauritania, previously arrested three times for counterfeiting second degree; he entered illegally in May 2023 and was released into the interior.

- Amadou Diallo from Guinea, who entered at the southwest border in November 2021 and was released into the interior.

ICE reports that five of these individuals had entered or were released into the United States under current federal policies regarding border entry or release.
