Buddy Hughes, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), has called on the Senate to confirm Frank Cassidy as the next Federal Housing Administration (FHA) commissioner and assistant secretary of housing. Hughes, who is also a home builder and developer from Lexington, North Carolina, issued a statement highlighting Cassidy’s experience in real estate finance.
“NAHB urges the Senate to move quickly to confirm Frank Cassidy as the next FHA commissioner and assistant secretary of housing. His strong background in real estate finance makes him uniquely qualified to address the nation’s critical housing needs and help FHA continue to fulfill its mission to provide low-cost mortgage insurance so that qualified borrowers can access affordable mortgage credit. Upon his Senate confirmation, NAHB looks forward to working with Frank Cassidy to ease regulatory burdens that are raising the cost of housing and to implement policies that will provide homeownership and rental housing opportunities for all Americans,” Hughes said.
Cassidy’s nomination comes at a time when access to affordable mortgage credit remains a significant issue for many potential homeowners.
