Today, the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) expressed support for the Trump Administration's new American AI Exports Program. This initiative aims to enhance U.S. national and economic security, stimulate economic growth, and maintain the country's leadership in artificial intelligence.
Jason Oxman, ITI President and CEO, emphasized the importance of global market access for U.S. exporters to drive growth and lead in AI development. "The American AI Exports Program offers a unique opportunity to incentivize direct investment in the United States, support U.S. manufacturing, and ensure technology from the U.S. and trusted partners is built into the global AI tech stack," he said.
Oxman also highlighted the need for a flexible approach as the administration advances its AI agenda. He noted that collaboration between industry and government is essential to pursue AI export opportunities and strengthen U.S. competitiveness internationally.
ITI has released a policy explainer titled "The AI Technology Stack and Why It Matters for AI Policy and Governance." This document outlines a vision for developing and deploying AI technologies, covering infrastructure, data management, model development, application layers, and governance.
