United States commits $24 million in emergency aid after Hurricane Melissa

The United States has announced an initial commitment of $24 million in emergency aid to support recovery efforts in Jamaica, Haiti, the Bahamas, and Cuba following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa. The funding will provide essential services such as shelter, clean water, sanitation, hygiene products, food assistance, and emergency healthcare.

A Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) is currently on the ground in Jamaica to assess ongoing needs and determine future actions. Secretary Rubio has authorized allocations that include $12 million for Jamaica, $8.5 million for Haiti, $3 million for Cuba, and $500,000 for the Bahamas.
