Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of certain Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Dark Chocolate Mini Bars due to the possible presence of undeclared wheat. The recall affects 6-count packages with batch code LLA519501 and a Best By date of January 31, 2027.

The company stated that individuals with wheat allergies or severe sensitivities could face serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume the product. The recalled items were shipped to two retail chains, Kroger and Giant Eagle, across several states. Specifically, Kroger stores in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington state, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming received the affected products. Giant Eagle stores in Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia also received shipments.

The batch code can be found on the product packaging under “Best By 31 JAN 2027.” No other Häagen-Dazs products or batches are included in this recall.

According to Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream: "No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date. We are recalling this product because it may contain products that contain wheat in packaging that does not reveal the presence of wheat on the label. Although our investigation is ongoing we believe products containing wheat were repacked into the incorrect packaging at the beginning of a production run."

Consumers who have purchased the affected bars and have a wheat allergy or sensitivity are advised not to eat them and should dispose of them or return them for a full refund.

Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream added: "The safety quality and integrity of our products remain our number one priority. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers."

The company said it is working closely with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) during this voluntary recall process.
