Following a recent ruling by U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has responded to reports about conditions at the ICE Broadview Processing Center.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated, “Despite hoaxes spread by criminal illegal aliens, the complicit media, and now an activist judge, the ICE Broadview Facility does NOT have subprime conditions. All detainees are provided with 3 meals a day, water, and have access to phones to communicate with their family members and lawyers. No one is denied access to proper medical care. Some of the worst of the worst including pedophiles, gang members, and rapists have been processed through the facility in recent weeks. When will the media start reporting on the criminal illegal aliens arrested from American communities and stop peddling hoaxes about illegal alien detention centers?”

The department also listed several individuals who were processed at the facility in recent weeks. These include Jose Manuel Escobar-Cardona from Honduras, who had been deported three times and convicted of multiple offenses such as lewd acts with a minor and assault; Alfonso Batalla-Garcia from Mexico, convicted of sexual assault, kidnapping for sexual assault, and homicide; Sergio Alberto Acosta Teran from Mexico, described as a suspected terrorist convicted of weapons trafficking; Aldo Salazar-Bahena from Mexico, convicted of first-degree murder; Nam Hoa Ly from Vietnam, convicted of two counts of kidnapping a minor; Cesar Osmin Barahona-Lopez from Honduras, deported three times and convicted of armed robbery and weapons possession; Heriberto Muniz Martinez from Mexico for drug trafficking; and Juan Camilo Cabieles-Salazr from Colombia for burglary and resisting an officer.

The DHS statement emphasized that these cases demonstrate the types of crimes committed by some individuals processed at the Broadview facility.
