Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a call with United Arab Emirates Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on November 14, 2025. According to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, the two officials discussed ongoing efforts to implement President Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Conflict in Gaza.
During the conversation, Secretary Rubio highlighted the need for a humanitarian ceasefire in Sudan. Both leaders also reiterated the importance of the strategic relationship between the United States and the UAE.
"The Secretary and the Foreign Minister continued discussions on our collective efforts to implement President Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Conflict in Gaza. The Secretary also emphasized the importance of achieving a humanitarian ceasefire in Sudan. The Secretary and Sheikh Abdullah affirmed the strategic relationship between the United States and the UAE," said Pigott.
The call is part of ongoing diplomatic engagement between Washington and Abu Dhabi as both countries address regional security challenges.
