Sean P. Costello U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama
A Mobile resident was sentenced in late October 2025 to 27 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to an announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Alabama.
Court records show that on April 19, 2025, a deputy with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle due to an expired license plate. The driver, identified as Teague, exited his vehicle despite instructions from the deputy to remain inside. After being detained, Teague was searched and found to have a firearm in his waistband. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered 429 rounds of various types of ammunition. Teague has multiple prior felony convictions, which prohibit him from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Teague will also serve three years of supervised release following his incarceration and is required to pay a $100 special assessment.
U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello stated: “This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).”
The investigation was conducted by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica S. Terrill prosecuted the case.
