Every November, National Adoption Month is observed across the United States to highlight the importance of providing stable and loving homes for children in need. President Donald J. Trump has issued a proclamation recognizing this month and reaffirming the nation’s commitment to adoption and child welfare.

“Every child deserves a safe and nurturing home where they can learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Adoption makes that possible by opening the door to stability and belonging for children who need a family. During National Adoption Month, we commend the parents whose love has changed lives and the children whose presence has completed families — and we recommit to caring for the many children still waiting for the comfort and security of a permanent home,” President Trump stated.

The proclamation points out recent federal actions aimed at supporting adoptive families. President Trump referenced legislative measures such as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which expanded access to adoption tax credits and increased the child tax credit to help alleviate financial challenges associated with adoption.

President Trump also noted efforts made during his first term with laws like the Family First Prevention Services Act, described as “the most sweeping reform of Federal child welfare policy in decades.” The law was designed to keep families together through intervention programs that prevent unnecessary separations.

He emphasized continued support alongside First Lady Melania Trump, citing a recent Executive Order on Fostering the Future for American Children and Families. This order seeks to use federal resources, technology, and partnerships to aid young people in or leaving foster care so they can transition successfully into adulthood.

“This effort is strengthened by the leadership of the First Lady whose work continues to uplift and protect the well-being of America’s children — ensuring every child has greater access to a strong foundation for the future,” he said.

The President concluded his statement by encouraging Americans to participate in National Adoption Month: “I encourage all Americans to observe this month by supporting children in need of a safe and loving home, uplifting the families who welcome them, and helping strengthen the bonds of family and community across our Nation.”

National Adoption Month will be recognized throughout November 2025 as part of ongoing efforts to improve outcomes for children awaiting permanent families.
