A Forsyth County man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to an announcement from United States Attorney Dan Bishop of the Middle District of North Carolina.
Angelo Addie Reid, VI, age 23, received a sentence of 150 months’ imprisonment and three years of post-release supervision. The sentence was handed down by Chief/Senior United States District Judge Catherine C. Eagles in Greensboro.
Court records show that on August 14, 2024, Reid and his girlfriend were at Hanes Mall Shopping Center in Winston-Salem when he became involved in a confrontation with another person. During the incident, Reid drew a gun and fired at the other individual. The shot missed its intended target and entered a nearby store occupied by employees and customers. The man fled toward the mall exit while Reid pursued him. Outside the mall doors, Reid shot the man in the back, striking his spine. As the victim lay injured on the ground, Reid approached and pistol-whipped him multiple times before fleeing with his girlfriend. Authorities located them shortly afterward at a nearby hotel. At the time of this shooting, Reid was already under post-release supervision for another offense.
Reid pleaded guilty on July 8, 2025, to one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm under federal law (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(8)).
The investigation was conducted by both the Winston-Salem Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives. Special Assistant United States Attorney Lauren Martin prosecuted the case.
