Okmulgee man pleads guilty to firearm charge tied to drug trafficking

Jerry Jason Rice, a 64-year-old resident of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The announcement was made by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

According to the indictment, on January 18, 2025, Rice had a .38 Special caliber revolver while engaged in activities related to distributing fentanyl, marijuana, and methamphetamine.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Okmulgee Police Department.

“The Honorable Gerald L. Jackson, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.”

A sentencing decision will be made by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing federal guidelines and statutory factors. Rice remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service until sentencing is determined.
