A former resident of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, Terron Slatton, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for coercing and enticing a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity. The sentence will be followed by 10 years of supervised release. Senior United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab delivered the sentence.
According to information presented in court, Slatton contacted a 10-year-old girl from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, using a messaging application in late December 2022. He persuaded her to engage in sexual activity, discussed sex with her during online conversations, and solicited sexually explicit images from the child. Slatton also suggested meeting in person for sex. Authorities arrested him at his home in Tennessee after obtaining federal arrest and search warrants.
Assistant United States Attorney V. Joseph Sonson prosecuted the case for the government.
First Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti praised Homeland Security Investigations–Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania State Police for their work on this case.
The prosecution was part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at addressing child sexual exploitation and abuse across the country by coordinating efforts among federal, state, and local agencies to apprehend offenders and help victims.
