Tuscaloosa man sentenced to 22 months for illegal firearm possession

A Tuscaloosa resident has received a prison sentence for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona.

Raymone Eugene Tabb, 33, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Anna M. Manasco to 22 months in federal prison. Tabb had previously pleaded guilty in April to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The plea agreement states that in June 2024, officers from the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to a trespassing call at an apartment complex in Tuscaloosa. Upon arrival, they saw Tabb leaving the area and attempted to approach him. Tabb ran from the officers but was caught after a short chase. Officers then found a loaded gun in his waistband.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) conducted the investigation with support from the Tuscaloosa Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristy M. Peoples handled the prosecution.
