Under the direction of Chairman John Boozman, the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry has moved forward with Michael Selig’s nomination to serve as both Chairman and Commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Boozman commented on the importance of this decision: “This is a critical moment for the CFTC as Congress considers expanding the agency’s authority. Strong leadership is essential to implement new policies and responsibilities. Michael Selig is the right person to strike that balance. I appreciate his willingness to serve and urge the Senate to swiftly confirm his nomination so the CFTC can benefit from his experience and expertise.”
The next step for Selig’s nomination is consideration by the full Senate.
