Alex Eduardo Turcios-Brizuela, a 42-year-old Honduran national, has been sentenced to 14 months in prison for unlawful reentry into the United States. The sentencing was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
Turcios-Brizuela, who also used the names Alex Turcior Brizaela and Alex Turcios, was found unlawfully present in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Authorities from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division and the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation that led to his arrest.
According to court documents, on May 18, 2025, Turcios-Brizuela was discovered in the United States without having received permission from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission after being previously removed on two occasions: February 26 and March 20, 2009. He pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry on June 26, 2025.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America. According to officials: "Operation Take Back America is a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN)."
The sentencing hearing was presided over by U.S. District Judge John F. Heil III in federal court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Turcios-Brizuela will remain in custody with U.S. Marshals until he is transferred to a Bureau of Prisons facility where he will serve his sentence without parole.
