Honduran man sentenced for illegal reentry after arrest in New York

Ever Josue Erazo-Lopez, a 30-year-old citizen of Honduras, pleaded guilty to illegally reentering the United States after being previously removed. The plea was entered before U.S. District Judge Meredith A. Vacca in Rochester, New York. Following his guilty plea, Erazo-Lopez was sentenced to time served and transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas M. Testani, Erazo-Lopez had no legal status in the country and was deported in July 2019. He was arrested by the Brighton, NY Police Department on September 27, 2025, for suspected drunk driving.

The case is connected to Operation Take Back America, a national initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration and targeting criminal organizations.

U.S. Border Patrol conducted the investigation under Acting Chief Patrol Agent James D’Amato.

"Operation Take Back America marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime," according to information released about the initiative.
