Jasper man receives over 11 years for meth trafficking in eastern Texas

A Jasper resident, David Anthony Piepenburg, has been sentenced to 135 months in federal prison for his involvement in methamphetamine trafficking in the Eastern District of Texas. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

Piepenburg, age 46, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant handed down the sentence on December 1, 2025.

Court records indicate that starting in 2019, Piepenburg worked with others to distribute and possess at least 500 grams of methamphetamine within the region.

The prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and reducing violent crime.

The Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation into this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Rattan prosecuted the matter.
