A former leader of the Allen Firefighters Association has been sentenced to federal prison for wire fraud, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Jeremy Painkin, 42, of Frisco, received a sentence of 13 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud charges. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Richard Schell on December 3, 2025. In addition to his prison term, Painkin must pay more than $108,000 in restitution.
Court documents show that Painkin served as president of the Allen Professional Firefighters Association from 2017 until his resignation in October 2023. His resignation followed an investigation into the organization's finances. Authorities found that Painkin used association funds for personal expenses, including clothing, travel, event tickets, fuel, food, and online purchases. After these unauthorized expenditures were discovered, he tried to hide them by making false statements to other members of the organization.
The FBI conducted the investigation into Painkin's activities. Assistant U.S. Attorney William R. Tatum prosecuted the case.
