Oklahoma City woman receives prison sentence for methamphetamine trafficking in Texas

An Oklahoma City resident has been sentenced to federal prison for her role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation in the Eastern District of Texas, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

Maria Garcia, 59, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and received a sentence of 75 months in federal prison. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant on December 1, 2025.

Court documents show that between April 2021 and November 2022, Garcia participated in a drug trafficking organization that distributed large quantities of fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine. These substances were smuggled across the U.S.-Mexico border and stored at various locations in Texas before being distributed throughout the United States. Garcia coordinated with individuals in Mexico to receive kilograms of methamphetamine from the organization operating in Oklahoma.

The prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, described as "a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime."

The Drug Enforcement Administration investigated this case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Wes Wynne.
