Inmate death reported at FCI Fort Dix; FBI notified

A 25-year-old inmate, Jarrette Morales, was found unresponsive at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in Joint Base MDL, New Jersey, early on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Fire and Rescue department were called to the scene. EMS personnel later pronounced Morales deceased.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been informed about the incident. Authorities confirmed that no employees or other incarcerated individuals were harmed, and there was no threat to public safety.

Morales had been serving a 76-month sentence after being convicted in the District of Puerto Rico for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine within protected locations and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He had been held at FCI Fort Dix since July 2, 2024.
