Fromm Family Foods has announced a voluntary recall of 300 cases of its Bonnihill Farms BeefiBowls Beef Recipe gently cooked frozen dog food. The recall is due to possible contamination with foreign plastic material.
The company stated that the affected product was distributed in neighborhood pet stores across several U.S. states, including Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Louisiana, California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and in Ontario, Canada. The recalled dog food comes in 16 oz. chubs with a Best By Date of December 25, 2026.
No illnesses or injuries have been reported so far. Fromm Family Foods noted that dogs ingesting plastic could show symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy or stomach discomfort. In severe cases where large amounts are consumed, dogs may experience gastrointestinal issues or intestinal obstruction. Pet owners whose dogs have eaten the recalled product and display these symptoms are advised to contact their veterinarian.
The company said the recall was initiated after complaints about plastic contamination were received. "We have identified the error, and in addition to our existing safety process, we have put corrective actions in place to prevent this from happening again." Fromm Family Foods added that no other products are affected by this recall.
"This voluntary recall is being made with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration," according to the company's statement.
Customers who purchased Bonnihill BeefiBowls Beef Recipe with a Best By date of December 25, 2026 should stop feeding it to their dogs and return it to their retailer.
