The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee has voted to advance two nominees from President Trump’s administration for key federal positions. The committee approved Scott Mayer as a member of the National Labor Relations Board and Mary Anne Carter as chairperson of the National Endowment for the Arts.
According to Dr. Bill Cassidy, Chairman of the HELP Committee, "These nominees are crucial to advancing President Trump’s pro-worker, pro-family agenda." He added, "As Chairman of the HELP Committee, I am committed to getting President Trump’s team in place as quickly as possible."
Scott Mayer's nomination was advanced by a party-line vote of 12-11. Mary Anne Carter's nomination received a 14-9 vote in favor. Both nominations will now proceed to the full Senate for a final decision at an unspecified date.
With these votes, the HELP Committee under Dr. Cassidy’s leadership has moved forward with 34 nominations from the Trump administration.
