ICE Buffalo Fugitive Operations officers have arrested Anhelina Polishchuk, a 40-year-old Ukrainian national wanted in her home country for drug trafficking. The arrest took place on November 20 during a targeted operation in Buffalo, New York.

Polishchuk is subject to an INTERPOL Red Notice and was identified as armed and dangerous with a high risk of escape. Authorities state she entered the United States through John F. Kennedy International Airport on June 16, 2023, using a parole program for Ukrainians that had been established by the previous administration. According to ICE officials, Polishchuk attempted to use this program to evade justice but was located by U.S. and international law enforcement.

Tammy Marich, acting Field Office Director for ICE Buffalo Enforcement and Removal Operations, said: “Foreign criminals will not exploit our immigration laws to escape justice in their home countries. Our officers are committed to protecting the public by ensuring criminals are not allowed to freely roam the streets of New York. We will continue to work with our domestic and international law enforcement partners to ensure individuals who commit egregious crimes, like Polishchuk are held to account.”

Polishchuk is wanted in Ukraine for offenses related to illegal narcotics production, manufacture, purchase, storage, transportation, and possession.

The agency also noted that previous immigration policies allowed many individuals without thorough vetting—including those with criminal backgrounds—to enter and remain in the United States. ICE officials stated that current enforcement efforts aim to prevent such individuals from causing further harm.

The public is encouraged to report suspicious activity or crimes involving immigration violations by calling 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or submitting tips online.
