U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced the arrest of several individuals described as dangerous criminal illegal aliens during Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The operation began on December 1, 2025, and targeted people with serious criminal convictions.
According to ICE, those arrested include individuals convicted of crimes such as child sexual abuse, domestic violence, gang activity, assault, robbery, fraud, and driving under the influence. Among those detained are Abdulkadir Sharif Abdi and Sahal Osman Shidane from Somalia—Abdi is identified as a member of known gangs and has prior convictions for theft-related offenses; Shidane was convicted of sexual conduct with a minor aged 13-15. Other arrests include Mukthar Mohamed Ali (Somalia), convicted of assault and robbery; Ahmed Mohamed Said (Somalia), who has multiple convictions including domestic violence; Rudy Arendondo Jarillo (Mexico), convicted of felony alien smuggling; Alvaro Davila Alanis (Mexico), arrested for aggravated assault with a weapon; Feisal Mohamed-Omar (Somalia), charged with two counts of domestic violence; Oscar David Ayala-Ocampo (Mexico), arrested for domestic violence; Alberto Gallardo-Montiel (Mexico), convicted for driving under the influence; Ismael Bonilla Avalos (Mexico), convicted of DUI and charged with domestic violence; Ismael Higuera Chupin (Mexico), arrested for DUI; and Carlos Mark Boquin-Alfaro (El Salvador), arrested for domestic violence.
Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated: “Sanctuary policies and politicians like Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey allowed these pedophiles, domestic terrorists, and gang members to roam the streets and terrorize Americans. ICE law enforcement are risking their lives to protect Minnesotans while their own elected officials sit by and do nothing. No matter when and where, ICE will find, arrest, and deport ALL criminal illegal aliens.”
ICE’s announcement comes amid ongoing debate about sanctuary policies in cities like Minneapolis that limit cooperation between local law enforcement agencies and federal immigration authorities.
