A federal grand jury in Birmingham, Alabama, has indicted two individuals on charges related to child exploitation, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona.
Victor Adear Vanderslice, 44, of Columbiana, Alabama, faces a nine-count indictment that includes transportation of child pornography, receipt of child pornography, attempted transfer of obscene material to minors, and violations concerning registered sex offenders. The alleged offenses occurred between October 3 and December 19, 2024, in Shelby County.
Victor Arturo Angeles-Garcia, 36, of Huntsville, Alabama, is charged with one count of possession of child pornography for an incident in June 2025 in Jefferson County.
“If you suspect or become aware of possible sexual exploitation of a child, please contact law enforcement. Reports can be filed with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or online at www.cybertipline.org,” the statement said.
The indictments are part of Project Safe Childhood. This Department of Justice initiative was launched in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating efforts among federal, state and local agencies to investigate and prosecute offenders and identify victims. More information about Project Safe Childhood can be found at www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
Federal law enforcement partners from the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dan McBrayer is prosecuting the case against Vanderslice; Assistant U.S. Attorney W. Lee Gilmer is handling the case against Angeles-Garcia.
“An indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty,” the release noted.
