The Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation will hold a hearing to discuss the use of modern technology in combating human trafficking. Chairwoman Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) announced that the session, titled “Using Modern Tools to Counter Human Trafficking,” will take place on December 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. ET in room 2247 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
The hearing aims to examine how technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital forensics are being used by law enforcement and other organizations to detect and prevent human trafficking. The committee will also consider ways to improve collaboration between anti-trafficking agencies, technology companies, and law enforcement to ensure effective responses without leaving gaps in protection.
“Law enforcement agencies have been overwhelmed by the sheer number of human trafficking cases and the lack of resources needed to address them. AI and other modern technologies can help close these gaps, strengthen cases against traffickers, and get victims the justice they deserve,” said Chairwoman Mace.
Witnesses scheduled to testify include Megan Lundstrom, Chief Executive Officer of Polaris; Melissa Snow, Executive Director of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC); and Cara Jones, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Marinus Analytics.
The hearing is open to the public and will be livestreamed online.
