Operation Catahoula Crunch, an initiative led by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has resulted in numerous arrests of individuals described as criminal illegal aliens in New Orleans. Among those apprehended is Jorge Vierra-Serrano, a Cuban national convicted of forcible rape and aggravated battery. Authorities say he attempted to avoid prosecution by using sanctuary laws.
The operation targets individuals with serious criminal records who are living in the United States without legal status. According to DHS, other recent arrests include Hander Bladimar Monrroy-Santiago from Guatemala, previously arrested for smuggling; Darlin Perdomo-Rodriguez from Honduras, previously arrested for simple battery, strangulation, and domestic abuse of a child; Anthony Jose Sarria-Gutierrez from Nicaragua, identified as a member of the 18th Street Gang and previously arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile; Carlos Arturo Padilla-Meza from Honduras, convicted of domestic battery; Willian Orlando Zuniga-Euceda from Honduras, previously arrested for various domestic abuse charges; Andres Vladimir Prieto-Rencoret from Chile, previously arrested for theft and other offenses; and Ingres Estel Hernandez-Murillo from Honduras, convicted of domestic abuse battery.
“DHS law enforcement continues to arrest rapists, thieves, human smugglers, domestic abusers, and child endangerers who sought sanctuary in New Orleans. Well, those days are over,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “President Trump and Secretary Noem have made it abundantly clear: criminal illegal aliens are NOT welcome in the U.S., even if liberal activists think they are. We will continue going after the worst of the worst across this nation until EVERY criminal illegal alien is arrested.”
The department’s efforts focus on removing individuals with prior convictions or pending charges related to violent crimes or offenses involving children.
