Mexican national indicted in East Texas for alleged child exploitation offenses

A Mexican national residing illegally in Splendora, Texas, has been indicted on charges related to child exploitation. The announcement was made by Jay R. Combs, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas.

Henry Alberto Calix-Martinez, 24, faces allegations from a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas that he produced and distributed child pornography involving a minor. If found guilty, Calix-Martinez could receive a sentence of up to 30 years in federal prison.

The case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative led by the Department of Justice that focuses on combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations while aiming to protect communities from violent crime.

Homeland Security Investigations is conducting the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph R. Batte is prosecuting the case.

“A federal indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” according to the press release.
