Senate Aging Committee to hold hearing on economic contributions of seniors

Senator Rick Scott, chairman of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, and Ranking Member Kirsten Gillibrand will lead a hearing on December 10 to discuss the role of older Americans in today’s economy. The event, titled “Aging with Purpose: The Positive Impact of Seniors in Today’s Economy,” aims to examine how seniors contribute through employment, caregiving, volunteering, and education as they transition into retirement.

According to the committee's announcement, expert witnesses will address ways aging Americans support local communities and the broader economy. They will also consider strategies for better utilizing their skills and experiences.

Witnesses scheduled to testify include Jon Taffer, Chairman and CEO of Taffer Dynamics and host of “Bar Rescue”; Dr. Paul Broadie II, President of Santa Fe College; Rachel Greszler, Senior Research Fellow at The Heritage Foundation; and Christine Osasu, Director of the Senior Community Service Employment Program at Legacy Link.

The hearing is set for Wednesday, December 10 at 3:30 PM ET in room SH-216 of the Hart Senate Office Building. A live broadcast will be available online.
