On December 10, 2025, the Senate Special Committee on Aging will hold a hearing to examine the positive impact that older Americans have on the nation's economy. The session, titled “Aging with Purpose: The Positive Impact of Older Americans in Today’s Economy,” is organized by Committee Chairman Rick Scott and Ranking Member Kirsten Gillibrand.

The hearing aims to highlight how seniors contribute to economic growth through employment, caregiving, volunteering, education, and other activities as they transition into retirement and new roles. Expert witnesses are scheduled to discuss ways aging Americans strengthen both local communities and the broader economy. They will also explore strategies for better supporting and utilizing their skills and experience.

Scheduled witnesses include Jon Taffer, President and CEO of Taffer Dynamics and executive producer/host of "Bar Rescue" from Paramount Network; Dr. Paul Broadie II, President of Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida; Rachel Greszler, Senior Research Fellow at The Heritage Foundation in Washington D.C.; and Christine Osasu, Director of the Senior Community Service Employment Program at Legacy Link in Oakwood, Georgia.

Chairman Rick Scott stated: “This hearing will shine a light on the incredible contributions America’s seniors make every day—not just in our families but across our workforce and communities.”

Ranking Member Kirsten Gillibrand added: “Older Americans bring invaluable knowledge and experience to our society. It is important we recognize their role in strengthening our economy.”
