Kevin P. Davidson, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama
A federal jury in Dothan, Alabama, has found Larenta Deshawn Dawkins, 38, guilty of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The verdict was announced by Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson on December 4, 2025.
Court records and trial evidence showed that law enforcement began investigating drug trafficking in Houston County in July 2024. Investigators discovered that Dawkins was receiving packages containing methamphetamine from out of state and storing the drugs in a storage unit located in Dothan.
A search of the storage unit led to the recovery of two boxes with about five pounds of methamphetamine and three bags of marijuana. Following this discovery, agents obtained a warrant for Dawkins’s residence and seized items connecting him to the storage unit.
Dawkins is scheduled for sentencing in the coming months and could face up to life in federal prison. Federal sentences do not allow for parole.
The investigation involved the Dothan Police Department, Eufaula Police Department, and Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant United States Attorneys Chelsea Wilson and Joel Feil prosecuted the case.
