A Jackson resident has pleaded guilty in federal court to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. Roman Walker, 35, was identified by law enforcement as a narcotics distributor operating out of Hinds County, Mississippi. According to court documents and statements made during proceedings, Walker distributed various drugs and provided information on drug types, business hours, and prices.
On January 24, 2023, authorities executed a search warrant at Walker’s home. They found more than 11,000 fentanyl pills along with fentanyl powder packaged for distribution within the Jackson metropolitan area.
Walker is scheduled for sentencing on March 3, 2026. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.
United States Attorney Baxter Kruger for the Southern District of Mississippi and DEA Special Agent in Charge Anessa Daniels-McCaw announced the plea. The case is being investigated by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency with support from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. Assistant U.S. Attorney C. Brett Grantham is prosecuting.
This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America (https://www.justice.gov/dag/media/1393746/dl?inline), an initiative that coordinates Department of Justice resources to address illegal immigration issues, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime by combining efforts from programs such as Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
