Dorchester man pleads guilty to federal firearm possession charge

A Dorchester resident, Robert Campbell, has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. The plea was entered on December 10 before U.S. District Court Judge Leo T. Sorokin, who set sentencing for January 13, 2027.

Campbell, age 36, admitted to possessing a Glock 32 handgun and multiple rounds of ammunition on January 28, 2025. According to authorities, the items included a .357 caliber handgun with 14 rounds of matching ammunition, as well as an additional 40 rounds of .45 caliber and 75 rounds of 9mm ammunition. At the time of the offense in Dorchester, Campbell had previously been convicted of a felony.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of up to fifteen years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine that could reach $250,000. Sentencing will be determined by the federal court based on established guidelines and statutes.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley announced the guilty plea along with Thomas Greco, Special Agent in Charge at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorneys Mark Grady and Allegra Flamm from the Major Crimes Unit are prosecuting the case.
