Durant man pleads guilty to child exploitation charge in federal court

A Durant, Oklahoma resident has pleaded guilty to possessing obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Zachary Aaron Holderness, 25, entered a guilty plea to one count related to this offense. The charge carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a fine as high as $250,000.

According to court documents, on February 27, 2025, Holderness knowingly possessed material that depicted or appeared to depict a minor engaging in sexual intercourse. The material was transported via interstate or foreign commerce, including by computer. Prosecutors stated that the visual depiction lacked serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office, and the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police.

U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Holderness’s plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing federal sentencing guidelines and other legal factors.

Holderness remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service while awaiting sentencing.
