U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) published a series of posts on December 11, 2025, highlighting the challenges faced by its officers and questioning local leadership regarding immigration enforcement.
In one post, ICE quoted South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, stating: ".@Sec_Noem: 'Our @DHSgov officers and agents are doing God's work.'" The same message continued with, "@ICEgov officers are defending their families, their neighbors, and the Homeland from criminal illegal aliens — all while facing an 8,000% increase in death threats and over 1,000% increase in assaults." This statement underscores the agency's concern about rising dangers to its personnel.
Later that day, ICE publicly commended its Seattle field office with a brief message: "Well done, ICE @EROSeattle officers!"
In another post directed at Minnesota's state leadership, ICE wrote: "For the past 6 years, Minnesotans have lived in fear for their lives, their families, and their property as you’ve let criminal illegal aliens run wild in your state. Governor, do you stand with the illegal aliens we’re taking off YOUR streets or with Americans?" The agency's message questions whether state officials support federal efforts to remove individuals they describe as "criminal illegal aliens."
These statements come amid ongoing national debates about immigration policy and enforcement. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is responsible for enforcing federal laws governing border control and immigration. The agency frequently faces scrutiny from both supporters who emphasize public safety concerns and critics who raise issues related to civil liberties and community trust.
