Mexican national sentenced for felony reentry after prior removal

Esteban Quino-Rosas, a 45-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced for felony reentry of a removed alien. The sentencing was handed down by United States District Court Judge Philip P. Simon, according to an announcement from Acting United States Attorney M. Scott Proctor.

Quino-Rosas received a sentence of time served, reflecting his detention since September 26, 2025. He will also be subject to one year of supervised release if he remains in or returns to the United States within that period after anticipated removal proceedings.

Court documents indicate that Quino-Rosas had previously been removed from the United States in 2012.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations with support from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant United States Attorney Emily Morgan prosecuted the case.
