The United States and Canada have expressed support for the commitments made during the Haiti Force Generation Conference held on December 9. The conference, organized by the Standing Group of Partners, focused on generating support for the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) in Haiti.

According to a joint statement released by both governments, "The shared determination of partner countries and organizations reflects a commitment to assist Haitians in addressing ongoing security challenges affecting the stability of the country and the region."

Haiti's transitional government has recently adopted an electoral decree, which will allow Haitians to vote for their leaders for the first time in nearly ten years. The conference aimed to reinforce this progress by bringing together international partners to coordinate efforts and improve security conditions in Haiti.

Eighteen entities pledged personnel, resources, and technical support at the conference. The statement noted that "their commitments underscore the breadth of international engagement behind this mission. This burden-sharing approach ensures the GSF mission will bring the tools required to meet the mandate."

The United States and Canada emphasized their continued collaboration with international partners to provide proper training, tools, and compliance mechanisms for countries contributing personnel. They also thanked those who previously provided personnel to the Multinational Security Support Mission, which preceded the GSF.

"We remain committed to working alongside Haiti with the GSF to advance stability, protect civilians, and support the Haitian people’s aspirations for a safer, more prosperous future," said both governments in their statement.
