Harrisburg man found guilty on fentanyl trafficking and firearms charges

A Harrisburg resident, Shawkon Sharif Jamison, 30, was convicted after a four-day jury trial for conspiracy to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, nine counts of distributing fentanyl—including two counts involving at least 40 grams—and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The trial took place before United States District Judge Malachy E. Mannion. Sentencing has not yet been scheduled.

United States Attorney Brian D. Miller stated that law enforcement made several controlled purchases of ecstasy pills from Jamison between August and September 2023. The investigation continued into December 2023, during which seven additional purchases of fentanyl were made. During the final transaction, Jamison also sold a firearm.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigation and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. Special Assistant United States Attorney Robert Smulktis and Assistant United States Attorney K. Wesley Mishoe prosecuted the case.

"This case is part of Operation Take Back America (https://www.justice.gov/dag/media/1393746/dl?inline) a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN)."

Jamison's conviction falls under broader federal efforts to combat drug trafficking through coordinated initiatives like Operation Take Back America.
