Mexican national indicted for illegal reentry in Eastern District of Texas

A Mexican national residing illegally in Collin County has been indicted for returning to the United States after a previous deportation, according to an announcement from Jay R. Combs, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas.

Juan Carlos Peralta-Aguinaga, 37, was charged by a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas with illegal reentry by a previously deported alien. The indictment states that Peralta-Aguinaga was found in the district on October 19, 2025, following his earlier deportation on May 1, 2013.

If convicted, Peralta-Aguinaga could face up to two years in federal prison and subsequent deportation.

The case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations.

Homeland Security Investigations and the McKinney Police Department are conducting the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Calli Bailey is prosecuting the case.

Authorities emphasized that "a federal indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law."
