Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods, based in Richmond, Virginia, has announced a recall of four decorated pound cake products due to the presence of an undeclared soy allergen. The company stated that a cake releasing agent containing soy was used during production for these specific cakes.

The affected products include:

- 8" Pound Cake with Buttercream Icing/Pink Roses (UPC: 72252591452), sold at Kroger Mid-Atlantic and Ukrop's Market Hall

- 8" Pound Cake with Buttercream Icing/Red Roses (UPC: 72252591456), sold at Kroger Mid-Atlantic and Ukrop's Market Hall

- 6" Pound Cake with Buttercream Icing/Red Roses (UPC: 72252591820), available only at Ukrop's Market Hall

- 6" Pound Cake with Buttercream Icing/Confetti (UPC: 72252591849), available only at Ukrop's Market Hall

All recalled cakes have a "Best By Date" of December 15, 2025. No other products from Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods are affected by this recall.

These items were distributed to Kroger Mid-Atlantic locations in Virginia and West Virginia as well as Ukrop's Market Hall in Richmond. All retail outlets have been notified and are removing the impacted products from their shelves.

Soy is recognized as a common allergen and can cause reactions ranging from mild symptoms such as hives or itching to severe cases like anaphylaxis if consumed by individuals allergic to it.

Customers who purchased any of the recalled pound cakes are advised to return them to the store where they were bought for a full refund. Those seeking additional information can contact Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods at 804-340-3050 between Monday and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
