Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Washington, D.C., to begin the seventh U.S.-Qatar Strategic Dialogue. According to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, "The Secretary and the Prime Minister reaffirmed the strategic partnership between the United States and Qatar, and discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation on shared economic and security goals."
During the meeting, Secretary Rubio thanked Qatar for its support of American objectives in regions including the Middle East, Africa, and the Western Hemisphere. He also confirmed both countries' commitment to ongoing collaboration on mutual interests.
The U.S.-Qatar Strategic Dialogue is an annual event aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and addressing issues related to economic growth and regional security.
