Atwater’s, a company based in Baltimore, Maryland, has issued a recall for 197 cookie tins due to undeclared tree nut allergens. The affected products contain almonds, pecans, and walnuts but do not indicate the presence of these allergens on their labels. This poses a risk for individuals with allergies or sensitivities to tree nuts, as consuming the cookies could lead to serious or potentially life-threatening allergic reactions.
The recalled cookie tins were distributed between December 13 and December 22, 2025. They were sold in retail stores and also provided to three wholesalers in Baltimore, Towson, and Catonsville, Maryland. The product is packaged in a circular metal tin with a bow and features an “Atwater’s cookie tin” label on the bottom.
No illnesses related to this issue have been reported so far.
According to Atwater’s, "The recall was voluntarily initiated after it was discovered that the product containing almonds, pecans, and walnuts was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of the nut allergen. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company's labeling process."
Consumers who purchased these cookie tins are advised to return them to their place of purchase for a full refund. For additional information or questions about the recall, customers can contact Atwater’s at 410-644-3435.
