DOJ investigates supervisory attorney for unreported relationship with subordinate

The U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has concluded an investigation into allegations against a supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA). The investigation was initiated following information from the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys (EOUSA) about potential misconduct.

The OIG's findings indicate that the supervisory AUSA engaged in an intimate relationship with a subordinate and did not promptly report this relationship to management, which is a violation of EOUSA policy. The report has been forwarded to both the EOUSA and the DOJ’s Professional Misconduct Review Unit for further action.

The OIG uses a preponderance of evidence standard to determine if misconduct by DOJ personnel has occurred.
