Latimer Grocery has been named Small Business of the Week by Chair Joni Ernst as part of her ongoing initiative to recognize businesses in each of Iowa’s 99 counties. The recognition highlights the role small businesses play in supporting rural communities across the state.
“Latimer Grocery has stocked the shelves with dedication and delivered for its neighbors year after year,” said Chair Ernst. “Under strong leadership, the store continues to raise the standard for what hometown businesses can achieve, all while serving up fresh solutions that keep rural communities thriving.”
Founded in 2008, Latimer Grocery was established to provide consistent access to essential groceries for residents of Latimer, Coulter, and nearby areas. Over time, it has developed into a central location for fresh foods and local products. The store is known for its deli offerings such as sandwiches and pizzas, as well as meal deliveries during harvest season. Approaching two decades in business, Latimer Grocery continues to collaborate with Iowa producers and support local families.
Chair Ernst’s recognition program will continue throughout Congress with more Iowa small businesses being highlighted.
The Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, which Chair Ernst leads, plays a key role in shaping federal policy on expenditures and income through budgetary evaluation via the Congressional Budget Office. The committee also supports informed decision-making on national fiscal priorities and offers comprehensive policy options related to federal budget components (https://limpar.locallabs.com/organizations/3ab853c3-934d-4550-bd35-b81c260098f6;https://www.sbc.senate.gov/public/).
